Comparative study using the example of "Digital Me´", a self-portrait study in sculptural design theory. In this study comparing qualitative, manual and digital design, the handling of material and tools, the aesthetic process and the associated teaching and learning process are analysed (research question). The resulting findings flow into proposals for an extension of the sculptural design theory (development question).

Particular attention is paid to the strengths and weaknesses of the respective method and how both approaches can complement each other in interaction.
