Relief Experiment - Metal Casting/G&DII + WF
Relief Experiment - Metal Casting
The sand molding process for metal casting offers possibilities for diverse representation techniques: recasting after the creation of a classically modeled model, the molding of experimentally created models or structures, but also working directly in the molding sand as negative modeling in the subtractive process or negative printing.
In the course, relief structures are to be developed in experimental settings that suggest the deepest possible spatial impression by superimposing areas of light and shadow at a low model height. Metal casting offers unique properties for this purpose, since the surfaces can be worked on again after casting: by grinding, polishing, filing, brushing, hammering, punching, scratching, hatching, etc., the surface originating from the model and ncohmally altered by sand casting can be further shaped, refined or alienated in terms of the light effect.
Possible themes can be: Modular systems, reticular or lattice structures, convex-concave shapes, overlays, drapery, honeycombs, bone structures ... and many more.
Metal casting can be realized by casting in different materials (aluminum, zinc, bronze, mes-sing, etc.). Metal reliefs of approximately 17 x 25 cm in area can be created.
