The resistance of metallic etching plates has always challenged the creativity of artists who have tried their hand at them. Legions of tools for manual scratching, scribing, punching, scraping, drilling were developed, along with sophisticated chemical methods for injuring the surface with acids. Metal plates are not only hard, but also patient. The more or less visible traces of processing can be interpreted and thematized as a visual memory of the process. Image ideas and underlying, content-related concepts develop in stages, even multiple times, and each step leaves traces. We want to explore this together.
Alternating and combining digital and manual tools (AI/photo exposure vs. engraving, vernis mou, aquatin-ta, mezzo-tinto, sugar ink, sandpaper, etc...), we seek the tension between the meticulously controlled and the unpredictable pictorial event in the graphic process. 
Starting from a self-found space as an image, we develop interventions in series and investigate how image ideas and chance can be brought together into a spatial representation. The aim of the work is the development of a pictorial process as a serial work in different pictorial stages and state prints. The intensive processing of pictorial steps as pictorial/spatial 'interventions' and the examination of the graphic material and craft are in the foreground.
