Spatiality in Painting

Module: Wahlmodul. 3 CP M.Sc. / B.Sc.

Lecturers: Prof. Thomas Schmitz, Anja Neuefeind

Our visual perception needs certain clues in order to recognize and assign spatial relationships. One of the great themes of painting is to represent spaces on surfaces and to create spatial effects that play with our visual habits, but can also function beyond illusion.
In this seminar, the means of painting that can create spatial depth were thematized. In a painting workshop / studio situation some of them were examined and applied. The resulting pictorial spaces were developed in the process - depending on the individual task, the possibilities and limits of painting were explored.
