Sculpture Studio Wüllnerstraße
The sculpture studio in Wüllnerstraße is a cosmos in itself. It is located in a small inner-city green oasis, right in the centre of the RWTH. Here, the students gain experience in the haptic-sensual, manual handling of materiality, forms and joints. The various rooms and the access areas in between are all together places of work. Through their layout, workbenches and tools, they each address specific material characteristics, methods and techniques of sculptural design. Thus there is a wood room that is a full-blown workshop, a plaster room, a metal foundry under the stairs, a grinding room in an alcove, a project room and an all-purpose room in which papers, bamboo, scrap metal, sheet metal, multiplex, wires and much more are playfully, intelligently, neatly or emphatically snottily joined. The rooms are meant to encourage doing. The many tools, machines, material stores and relics of creative work promote this at every point.
